I simply can't pull off short hair. I think the pixie cuts are super-cute, but I have thick, curly hair. It never looks good short. My hair is about to the middle of my back now. I always loved different styles and to be ahead of everyone else. Then I had dfferent bobs. I know, I know, how many ways are there differences in bobs.
I started about shoulder, then a little shorted, and then ear length as I was going to have surgery and wanted something easy to care for. Then my treatments left me bald. My eyebrows and hair are growing back when I'm hit with another round of treatments. It will probably be until the holidays that I will have enough to style. This has taught me, it's OK to wear a wig and have different color hair all the time and long or short, as long as the style fits the shape of your face, you are ok at any length. Short hair for me doesn't work...despite what everyone may say...and hairdressers are sissors-happy and just want to have a field day in my head by cutting off my hair.
Long hair in the summer works for me because when I am exercising or going shopping, etc. I can put up my hair in a pony tail or pin it up and all the hair is off my neck. When I have functions to attend, I have hair I can put in a french roll. So long hair throughout the year works for me.

I am going the other way. I am growing mine out. It is easier care when it is long and I am considering going back to work. I love it long in the summer as a quick up ponytail and instant cool! Until a few months ago, I'd had long hair for about 8 years; kept it long for my hubby. But all through high school and college I'd had short hair, and I missed it! I just got my hair cut really really really short and I love it! I have recently knocked off a little over 10 pounds + short hair = all my friends say I look 10 years younger! Can't beat all the compliments I am getting which has more than doubled since I got my hair cut! It took my husband a couple of hours of straight out staring at me and now he says he loves my hair and says I look great! Of course, I am accessorizing with dangling earrings and more make-up! I feel good inside out!

I definitely prefer short hair- at least on me. I am a wash & go person just like lizzy63. My hubby would prefer me to have long hair, but I tell him since it's my hair and I'm the one who has to take care of it I get to choose how I wear it. As a kid I always had to have long hair worn in braids. When I was in 7th grade I finally was allowed to get it cut, but I had to have a perm, which I hated, so I let it grow out again. I have luxurious thick curly brown hair that was subjected to pixie cuts when growing up. In the fourth grade I looked like a little boy. So, now that I am a big girl and can pick my own style I go long. I throw it up in a ponytail most of the time anyway, but I love to fix it up the way I want to more than anything. I'm always surprised how many women say that their partners wouldn't like them in short hair. My husband MUCH prefers me with shorter hair, and he's known me since I had hair to the middle of my back.

I can no longer stand hair on my neck (especially now that it's in the 90's here), and get a headache when I use anything to pull my hair back (sensitive scalp).
