Winners of the SparkRecipes Un-Chained Contest
It was a tough decision, but the results are in, the votes have been counted, and the winners have been chosen.
Monday we announced our 10 semifinalists. From there, we tested the recipes, considered our choices and tried some really delicious recipes!
So who won?
In the Fast Food category, the winner was:
Boneless Sweet BBQ Wings by OIL_FIELD_WIFE

She made over the Honey BBQ Boneless Wings at Wendy's. At 156 calories and just 2 grams of fat per serving, she cut a whopping 424 calories and 16 grams of fat from the original recipe. She also lowered the sodium by almost 75%, to 556 milligrams. (Lower the sodium even more by choosing a low-salt barbecue sauce.)
This recipe was easy, delicious and fun. Our reviewers said: "I thought the dish was super easy to prepare. I would make those again for a social gathering. I used an Emeril brand BBQ sauce–the flavor was wonderful with honey. Clean up was a breeze thanks to the foil. Leftovers could be great in a wrap or on top of a salad."
In the Casual Dining category, the winner was:
Southwestern Eggrolls by RONDARC.

She made over Chili's Southwestern Egg Rolls.
The original recipe had a whopping 910 calories, 57 grams of fat and 1,960 milligrams of sodium! Her made-over recipe is much lighter: 350 calories, 17 g fat and 650 mg sodium. (You can rinse your canned corn and beans to reduce sodium even more.) These eggrolls are baked, not fried, and they have nine grams of belly-filling fiber.
Our reviewers said: "This is just like the Chili's version, only healthier!"
Congratulations to you both! The two winners will receive a high-performance Vita-Mix 5200 blender, worth $450.

Would you have chosen these two as the winners? Which ones were your favorite? Do you have any restaurant meals you'd like to see made over?

I have an idea for the next recipe contest: How about Comfort Food Remade? We all have mom and grandma's old recipes that we're drawn to now and then -- the scalloped potatoes, casseroles, chicken dumplings and the like. How about it Spark People?
