Win BIG in the 2009 dailySpark Holiday Giveaway

By: Stepfanie Romine : 11/30/2009 12:00:40 PM : 120 comments : 11,607 Views

This job comes with many cool perks: not getting in trouble at work for spending time on SparkPeople, doing the Hundred Pushups Challenge during breaks (yep, we're doing it. I'll let you know how it goes), and sharing the inspirational Success Stories of our members.

But this time of year, I have another perk: organizing the dailySpark Holiday Giveaway.

Without you, there would be no dailySpark, so as a way to say thank you for all of your support and encouragement, we're proudly announcing our second-annual dailySpark Holiday Giveaway. What are we giving away? That's a surprise! But I can tell you the prizes are pretty awesome. (Want to know what we gave away last year? Click here.)

Today marks the first giveaway. Each Monday from now until Jan. 4, 2010, we will be giving away various prizes to help you along your journey to a healthier you.

So what is the first prize? I'll give you a hint: It's crunchy, chewy, sweet and tasty, comes in a canister and is quite fond of cold milk! Give up? Then keep reading to find out.

We're giving away 5 personalized cereal capsules from [me] & goji!

What is [me] & goji?

According to the company: "You design your cereal online from our 30+ all natural and organic ingredients. We hand mix it in New England and ship it to your home within a week in our cereal capsule."

"[me] & goji is the dream of three friends – Adam, Alexander, and Carl – combining our passions for healthy food, unique products and good design: cereal couture, if you will. we are a mission-driven company that believes in using our resources in ways that benefit the environment and social needs."

We created our own cereal blend this spring.

Now, in addition to creating your own cereal mix, you can also personalize the cereal capsule.

The winner of this first giveaway would get 5 picture capsules to send to family and friends (approximate value: $130), courtesy of [me] & goji.

You'd get to:

  • create any 5 mixes
  • name them
  • place any pictures on the capsules
  • have them shipped to whatever address they want (separate ones if desired)
The option to place a picture on the cereal capsule has gotten tremendous positive feedback. It was mentioned on the Today Show, and recently celebrities such as Erykah Badu and Ludacris have had their pictures on capsules.

A pretty cool gift, right? Sounds like a great way to get your family and friends (or yourself) to eat a high-fiber, healthy breakfast each morning.

To enter, click here!

The contest is open between now and 9 a.m. EST on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009. The rules are the same as always. (And just to reiterate: We’re sorry, we’d love to include members outside of the United States in the contest, but the legal work involved is too overwhelming – we’d prefer to spend our resources improving the site!)

If you win, what kind of cereal would you create? What's your favorite kind of breakfast cereal? (As a kid, I loved Quaker Corn Bran. Now I love Quaker Oatmeal Squares.

I'd love to win - there are 5 of us here, so we could each make our own blend. I looked it over, and I think I'd go with the shredded wheat, with loads of fruits in it. I know my little ones would start with the O's though. :)

Oatmeal - Shredded Wheat (made with hot water) - Cheerios - cranberries and walnuts sounds like fiber heaven

I passed this on in all my Team rooms and emailed all my friends. Even if I don't win, I hope I know the people who do.

Thanks for a healthy great idea that can be enjoyed by lactose intolerant people as well as people who can eat anything!

Hmm, I think I would just add heaps of fruit to granola. What I miss that they don't have is something like the shredded wheat that used to come stuffed with either smushed up raisins or dried strawberries. Those raisin ones were great!

Unfortunately, I grew up in the Tony the Tiger and Captain Crunch era! Now when I eat cereal, I usually eat raisin bran or Grape Nuts. I don't like much sweet stuff in the morning, so I would really like to try designing my own mix of ingredients! Raisins and dried fruits are about as much as I want for sweet in the morning, so crunch would definitely be how I would go!

It disturbs me that this company supports BET, a channel that blatantly exploits & promotes African-American stereotypes & that sparkpeople, by supporting this company also supports BET. Regardless, I still entered because the idea of mixing my own cereal blends is too interesting to not try for.

Does anyone remember Krumbles? It was my favorite cereal as a kid but they don't make it any more. It was a bran cereal but it was in long thin strips and it tasted kind of sweet to me. I love Kix because of the crunchy air like feel when you eat them. I love shredded wheat, the big ones with warm milk over them to mke a hot cereal in the winter. and of course good old fashion oatmeal! No cinnamon sugar or apple raisin just plain.
